Under several of my categories such as this one: http://annalisa.smugmug.com/Nature , I have a mix of galleries. Some contain square thumbs, others have original. Is there any way to get the display to look better by forcing all featured thumbs on the galleries display page to be the same ratio? (all orig., for instance)?

for each featured photo (thumb) go to it and if it is not the way you want, do tools>this photo>crop thumbnail

Andy, that's when you're inside a gallery. That will crop the thumbnail inside the gallery too, no? I'm saying I love some galleries having square thumbs, & wouldn't want their feature photo to have a different kind of thumb inside a gallery... only on the display page such as my example. (this is the page you get when you click on my "nature" tab) http://annalisa.smugmug.com/Nature . In this example, only one gallery (the one listed at top right) displays a square thumb. The rest have original thumbs. I still want that one gallery to have square thumbs but just wish to tidy up the display by having the shapes all match... so in this case, I'd just change that one featured square to original in the display... but not change it inside the gallery.

Unless I misunderstood you... I'm thinking it's just not possible & in that case I should be moving this to the feature request. mwink.gif

Create a 2nd copy of the photo you want thumb square. Square the thumb
of that 2nd copy and feature it. After that move the 2nd copy to your site
files gallery. Be sure to put in the caption what gallery it is being used in.

Tricky! I will try it! Of course, just after I asked this, I realized it could all be a moot point if I re-organize the way I'd like to... I'm having trouble knowing which cart to put before which horse. But for now, will give it a shot.

Thanks again, Allen. This works very sweetly. Would never have thought of this creative idea. I wish Smug had a simpler way to do it, but it's not a real common problem I guess, & there aren't that many places on my site where I feel I need to fix it. So, nice to know this!
