Don't have any experience with the g10 but my friend has a g9. I have the g11 and the lens is wider on the g11 It takes some nice pics too. The swivel lcd is a great feature too. If I were you I would go out to the store and play with both of them.
Check the file sizes, if that data is available yet. If it turns out that the G11 picture quality/detail is comparable to the G10, and if the file size of a G11 image turns out to be smaller due to the fewer megapixels, then another argument in favor of the G11 is that your same memory card will store more pictures than if you were shooting with a G10. Unneeded extra megapixels are a tax on your disk space and RAM when processing.
