This was discussed on Canon Rumors last week. The real question for me is how it compares to Canon's EF 28mm f/1.8 USM, which unfortunately is a very problematic lens, with lots of color fringing and very soft edges even on APS-C. The Zeiss is much more expensive, not quite as fast, and most likely manual-focus only (the press release doesn't say, but other Zeiss lenses for EF mount are manual-focus), so the only way I can see this as a worthwhile alternative is if it totally blows the Canon out of the water on IQ (which, fortunately for Zeiss, won't be hard to do).

Even so, I'm more likely to buy Canon's 24mm f/1.4 L USM II.
