I shot the skaters and and skateboarders this weekend. I am going for kind of an "edgy grunge" look. Which ones do you think do that best? I will post the original then 2 versions. Thanks!

Have a look through some skate magazine for ideas on how to process. I generally like the processing in the V2's. But the backgrounds really bork the shot.

I personally don't think any amount of PP is going to make these pics all that great. In the first pic, my eye was quickly drawn to his shoes. They look blown out and blurry. The 2nd pic is better, but is just too busy. Keep at it though. Practice makes perfect my friend.

I've been experimenting with coarse B&W. If you want grunge it may work.

Maybe you would like to try it. I take an original (before crop) apply a film grain and sharpen excessively, then crop. See where you are then apply your color separations. I like the last two, his tats are not blown

Thanks. I took a stab at it. Is this what you mean?

    Just an opinion here but...

#1 - The original looks best. The processing (especially in V1) is bringing out too many large white/gray specs/spots in the background. And I prefer the more natural colors in #1 over V2.

#2 - In this shot the processing in V1 seems like an improvement over the original. I just wish his shirt was pulled down to his belt as in the first one. (It is a pet peeve of mine the kids wearing the pants down below their underwear)
