Bulk Watermarking

I have created a new custom watermark and I want to apply it to the existing galleries I already have. I have uploaded the image and made it into a watermark.

Now, I go into "customize gallery" and then select my custom watermark and then chose to save this as a new quick setting. Then, I click "apply to other galleries" and I selected my galleries that I wanted and I chose my new quick setting.

I gave it like 10 minutes for the changes to take effect. I refreshed the page and I still see the smugmug "PROOF" watermark. yet, when I go back into "customize gallery," I see that my custom watermark is selected.

What is happening here?

10 minutes is not always enough, especially for that many. I'd give it awhile yet. I'm glad you inadvertently answered my un-question from some other thread though. I didn't realize there was that method of "applying to other galleries". Will have to check it out. Thanks!

It's been hours now and no change whatsoever.

Did you actually apply the watermark?

Changing the watermark used on the customization screen changes is for new photos added to the gallery. From the help page at http://www.smugmug.com/help/custom-watermark-protection:
Changes will only affect photos you watermark in the future, not photos you've already watermarked. If you want the changes to take effect on those photos, you'll need to apply the updated watermark to them.
That change needs to be applied on the customize gallery screen for each gallery that you want to show the new watermark. I'm not aware of any bulk way to generate updated watermarks.

Yeah. You are right. Doesn't make sense to me why you can't do this?
Smugmug is so hard on you, when you want to change existing galleries (watermarks, keywords)

This is a theoretical way to have it do it by bulk. This will work if you generally have galleries set to a similar set of settings, or have groups of galleries with a similar set of settings.

Customize a gallery with the old watermark in one of the sets to have no more watermark. Have it apply to all images in the gallery. This will remove the old watermark in that gallery. Copy the gallery settings to all other galleries in this set. This should remove the watermark in all the galleries of this set.

Customize a gallery in the set with the new watermark and have it apply to the images. Copy this gallery settings to all other galleries in this set. This should put the new watermark on the galleries.

Repeat for the various sets of gallery settings you may have. And let me know if this works!
