    Thanks for the kind words richtersl, JAG & AndMan. I've heard several suggestions as to the type of spider though I've not seen a confirming image yet. This particular guy was haning between mine and my wife's cars with the web anchored to our door handles. I almost walked into it and stoped just about an inch from it hitting me in the stomache. Needless to say it scared the living sh*t out of me.

    It definitely is and not only that how big of an expanse they can somehow span.
