Stuck umbrella

My small convertible umbrella seemed fine when I opened it to use today, but when I went to close it... it's STUCK! It seems to have overshot the "catch" and is now absolutely jammed open. Is there some sneaky way of salvaging it? It's gone right up to the top of the shaft and won't budge.

Anybody?

I had one do this along time ago....I pressedthe open trigger and it shot up the shaft like a bullet and jumped the stop....my stop was also like a release to be pushed to close the umbrella....so I got a very large pair of "channel locks" and got the release/stop pushed back down and pulled the inner part of the umbrella back down.....fro m then on I made a secondary stop out of "spike" tape so it could not jump the main stop.....it kept the umbrella from actually opening all the way but I could live with it......................

Thanks ARt. If I could get the bugger closed I could try that, but so far... it's seriously STUCK. I guess I either have to find a place to store it so it can stay open, or get another one. rolleyes1.gif

Does anybody know if I were to replace it with a shoot-thru of the same size/brand, would the black cover from this one (that makes it convertible) fit?

Have you tried pulling on the struts to fold them back, one at a time?

    Broken Brella
I had one that the button to keep it open fell out first time I used it. Westcott would not replace it because I didn't have a receipt. I bought it as part of a light kit - at least they're cheap.

Thanks both. I think I"m going to have to accept that it's either permanently open, or toast. I may try one more time in daylight tomorrow (no chance today), but sadly I think it is a goner. Time to go stalk ebay....
