    Night of the Living Doll
The last one gives me the willies. It's got a "Chuckie" vibe.

the doll pics work but you need to work with the light --something with a little of all 3 [light that is]

I like #1 and #6. however, in my opinion, both need some lighting work.

Both #3 and #6 have potential.

#3 is spooky/creepy. It could benefit from some gaussian blur/Orton effect, though. Give that a try and see how you like it.

#6 is creepy but you need to play with with lighting in that one. Or, try photographing her in a different environment.

I really like #2, especially since it took me a second to register the figures on the right which was very spooky indeed! Can you do something with them to make them a little less worldly? Not sure what, but capitalize ont he effect it had on me. Love the sunlight in that one thumb.gif

Thanks for the feedback. The dolls are museum pieces behind glass, so any lighting work is strictly PP.

Bummer about the doll being in a museum. There's not much you can do, then, in terms of repositioning her. How did you manage to avoid any reflections or glare?

#2 or #6 for me. Yes they need a bit of work on the light in pp but both have creep potential.

    Mark,
Another vote for #6-give it an equally creepy title like "Are You My Mommy?"--#6 is def the one to work with, IMO.

EDIT: Sorry I just realized you already have a title for the shot.

Circular polarizer + aimed my flash away from the glass, + got up real close to the glass = success!

Looks like I'll have to play with my doll a bit more. I actually like my cemetary shots a little better, I think. :shrug

Ok -- played with my doll and came up with this -- better, worse, too much? Not enough?

The new version is definitely dramatic, but imho it is a tad too much. Something around midway between the 2 would be spot on imo.

UAAAAHHHH!!!! #6 definitely. I actually took in a breath when I saw it.

Are these at Strong? I never ever ever went into that wing - it's just too horrible :)

The first version hit me the strongest, what if you just decrease the light and contrast a little bit... maybe add some toning? I think having the eyes dead center was effective for this one.

I don't know... it was just.... uaahh

Strong Museum, Kinkajou gets it in one!

For non-Rochesterians, Margaret Woodbury Strong was very wealthy and also a packrat. Just before she died she founded a museum dedicated to preserving and protecting all the creepy weird toys she had accumulated.

That museum has since morphed into the Strong Museum of Play, one of the coolest places on earth for kids and kids-at-heart. But due to some contractual obligation or whatever, still have all the old creepy stuff on display on the second floor, far enough away from the cool stuff that innocent eyes won't accidently wander over and be freaked-the-hell out.

I think the eyes are a little more stark in #1, making it a little creepier. I really had to look closely to see a difference.

Thanks for the feedback. My entry is up. Anyone who wants to get seriously wierded out by creepy old toys is welcome to go visit the Strong Museum of Play, 2nd floor display cases. It's not hard to find -- just look for where everyone else isn't.
