New Thumbnails view

I love the new thumbnails view but is there anyway to force the view to all thumbnails on one page and get rid of the option to check and uncheck the box that says "show thumbnails on many pages."

I like all the thumbnails on one page but it seems that any viewer can come in and change the settings if they would like by just checking the little box.

Thanks for your help in advance.

The setting is stored in a cookie. A script would have to be written to force the cookie value on your site.

Such a script does not exist. Until it does, I know of no way to force it.

YES! I got blindsided by this update today and freaked out. I'm glad you did away with redundant gallery styles, ("All Thumbs" versus "Traditional", honestly haven't used "Traditional" in like, four years?) but I think SmugMug made a BAD call in defaulting to an option that makes me click through SIXTY PAGES of thumbs for my 500-600 image wedding galleries on a 13" macbook...

As the new Apple magic mouse so eloquently proves, scrolling is the future, NOT clicking. I LOOOOOVE the evolution of "All Thumbs" with the "Th" thumbnails instead of "Ti" and how it stretches to fit my page. It is PERFECTION! Now I'll just wait on the customization button that forces this, when people chose thumbs. Oh, and whlie you're at it, can we have a gallery customization button to hide the "slideshow" button, just like we can hide the geography and share buttons? It seems unfair that we can hide those buttons effortlessly, but to hide the slideshow button we have to use CSS...

    Take care,

you can simply click the box and have them all on one page and scroll to your heart's content, Matt :)

We're adding a way for you as owner to force it. This will require us to use planned downtime, so it's going to wait until we plan on downtime for other reasons.

Yes, and that's what I'll wait for. Seems there's a cookie so I only have to click it once. :-)

BTW, VERY nifty implementation of how you go straight from thumbs to lightbox! Or I should say, good job on re-designing the individual image editing system so that I can still edit individual images. Brilliant work, guys!

    Thubnail Loading
The thumbnails don't all load while your viewing the page.

You must scroll down to load the thumbnails.

Before the chnage, the entire gallery would load, thats how it should be.

Hey Gary, welcome to 2009 where we use great new cool technology - -and- give you the choice!

You can have paginated thumbnails or all on one page. See your gallery settings and choose :)

When you choose all on one page, we load more thumbs as you scroll down.

When you choose paginated, we fill the screen with as many that will fit your screen / window.

Cheers Gary! Hope you have a great holiday season and hope the fire fighting is minimal!

    Ok
    Andy,

Thank you for the info. The reason for my post and I guess I was not clear enough and it was my fault.

I do not like when you choose all on one page, and you load more thumbs as you scroll down.

I want them to all load when you are viewing the page like it used too.

PS, I was laid off from the fire dept in april 09. I guess they could not afford the 10.25 I made per hour.
The town wanted them to save money so they cut severla call guys.

If you are in the new thumbnail view and you have more thumbnails than will fit on the screen, there is a checkbox for pagination vs. all thumbs:

and you can also set it, one way or the other - in gallery settings - if you force thumbnails style.

Earlier, I was on a larger monitor, so the thumbs stretched and didn't go onto another page. Now I'm on a laptop, so now I "see" what you are talking about.

Thanks, Andy. Wasn't seeing this in gallery setting because until this post, didn't realize that it only comes up if you force to thumbnails.
