Hover on Daisy

One of the few instances where I decided to use live view, the grass where thus daisy was growing was damp and kneeling down wet my jeans, so lying down was quickly ruled out!

This hoverfly (it is I think either the Eupeodes latifasciatus or the Melascaeava cinctella was flitting around the daisies on the patch of greenery opposite the house, so I couldn't resist following it until I got a shot or two. his was the best I could manage - fairly low light conditions, and hand held using live view, on the Sigma 105.

C&C as always encouraged.

Looks like I may need to invest in some knee pads then!

    Thanks Brian.

Nice muted gradient for the background and the fly is right in the correct plane with the very narrow field of focus. Well composed and a great shot.

I've seen a lot of inspiring photography in this forum - pity that our bug season has been over for a few weeks. I'll be practicing on pet shop critters, testing lens combo's and developing some gadgets for the season to come.

    Long winter ahead...

    Cheers Cap.

I end up doing indoor spiders and a few still lifes this time of year.

An absolute brilliant shot Phil. I don't often use live view but this shot of yours is telling me to use it more often.
