Default speed and keyboard navigation in slideshow

Is there any way to set a site wide default on the slide show speed? I find the current default “medium” painfully slow. Every time I and my visitors view a slide show we have to click “fast”. It would be nice to set a default for this, or maybe remember each visitors setting somehow.

I’d also like to see the keyboard arrow keys control the slideshow. This is a standard feature in virtually every slideshow mode I’ve come across and I think it should really be included in SmugMug’s version as well.

Thanks jfriend. Your script works great for setting the default to "fast". Now all I need is some keyboard shortcuts...
