My original video footage is captured with the Canon 5d MII. I edit and view it on Final Cut Express, but when I export it; it seems that some of the vividness of the color and smoothness of the gradients don't look as nice. What gives?

How are you exporting and where are you viewing? If you're watching on an NTSC monitor, you're going to lose all kinds of color. NTSC is horrible.

If you're watching on your computer in an exported file, you could still be constrained by NTSC, depending on the codec you're using. And lastly, if you're viewing in quicktime, then (at least on a Mac in Quicktime Player) there's a HQ setting that you need to enable to get best quality.
