A Special Duck

On the weekend when I was testing out my new lens, I noticed this one duck who was different from the others.

It's beak is deformed, I don't know if it was born like this, if it has been injured somehow, or if has been shot.

The Duck was just beautiful standing in the little bit of sun that filtered through that day, and swimming in the pond with the other ducks.

At first I didn't even notice anything different till it swam towards me, but still I was struck by it's beauty and not by it's faults........I am glad this little duck found a safe haven.

Taken with Canon 20D + Canon 400mm F5.6 .... Aperature Priority.

Enjoy............ Skippy (Australia)

Poor thing. Seems to be healthy otherwise so I suppose it's getting enough food. Nice naturalist photo.

The Duck seemed quite happy, he was swimming and eating and appeared to be quite happily enjoying himself in the pond at the Sanctuary.
Animals are pretty clever at figuring out where the safe havens are, this little fellow found a great place to be, because he will be well cared for at the Sanctuary........these ducks are free to come and go as they please, they are not in captivity.

Thanks for looking Phil ......... Skippy (Australia)

Thanks for letting us know that the birdie is safe too. I can not have any more subject to worry about. Nice shot... It is a beautiful colored bird. Did you submit that one for the curves challenge?
