First Frost in Maine

I shot this in my brother's yard the day I left Maine, a few days after the Shootout. I'm not sure about the PP but I liked the image when I saw it. I processed it mainly in ACR, boosted the blacks a bit and also the clarity. A crop and a tiny bit of curve in PS. Tried a BW conversion but that was a non-starter.

Any C&C will be appreciated.

Thanks, Lauren

    Nice image!
I think you need to be in tighter here, though. The gold tones in the background to the left distract from the leaf. Either go 1x1 on the crop, or go a bunch tighter on the leaf.

What a GREAT eye to see frost on the edges of a leaf, especially one in among the blades of grass. I also like the tighter crop, as some others have said...really brings your eye right to the frosted leaf. Hope you were headed home to someplace warm. :D

    Thanks for sharing!

Brrrr. Thats a cool image :D
I'd like a bit more depth on on the leaf (right side seems slightly unsharp).
    The colors are brilliant.

Chiming in - yep, the tighter crop really does it for me.
Of course, living a few hours NORTH of your brother's place, frost fails to have any allure for me at the moment. I'm just hoping that winter holds off for 6 more weeks until we get our house built and get movedrolleyes1.gif

    Seriously though - good shot!

Thanks, everyone! Glad you like the cropped version--and thanks for the suggestion, as I like it much better also. I was pleased when I saw this one on my screen with the details of the frost. When I shot it, I was just hoping to capture the overall look of the frosty grass and the yellow leaf against the green grass.

I think it reminds me of Eliot Porter.
