I agree, I like the 1st one the best too. It looks like you're missing the eyes on your focus, specially in 2 and 3 (#3 specially because the camera focused right on the wood grains). You should try to use a single focusing point and aim for the eyes.

Thanks for the tip on 2 and 3. Both were more or less, hey that looks like it would make a good picture....focus....snap...done. I need to practice on getting my "aim" when focusing in a spur of the moment situation. He moves around so much that I do my best.
