Invisible - thanks for posting and welcome to dgrin! It's a great first photo-post - I like the composition overall and the varying textures of the grass and wood. I bet it'd also make an interesting black & white photo as well. Thanks for sharing!

It's a nice picture the way it is, but I agree with CS above, it has the textures and tone for a strong Black and white.

    Welcome!! John

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.

I hadn't really thought about a B&W conversion before you guys mentioned it. Here it is.

I like the BW treatment. Nice texture in the foreground building and then the contrast with the stark tree in the background.

The most common things sometimes make the most interesting pictures. If I were to hang either the color or the b&w on my wall it would be the color.

    I vote B&W .... But I'm biased ;)

    Great shot either way clap.gif

Thanks Tom, Dale, and Pa.Patriot. I think I like the colour version better myself, but the B&W version doesn't bother me one bit. It was a great suggestion.

Lovely shot but I would clone out the roof as I find it distracting. Both colour and mono are great, a really excellent shot, well done.deal.gif

    Welcome to dgrin clap.gif

I like it. First I thought the color was really good, but when I saw the bw version....well I like that better. Adds to the starkness of the tree out there all by itself. Also with it being in bw it makes one wonder why that door is open :D

    Good photo thumb.gif

On further consideration I prefer the colour version, really good thumb.gif

You're the second person that says this. I might have to give the clone tool a try and see how this looks without the roof.

Thanks Christina, Mary, Oobers, and Darren for the kind feedback!

    Great job
I was about to suggest a B&W and then I saw you had developed one! Great contrast. I also like the simplicity of the composition.

Thanks for posting a B&W version of that. I'm a sucker for good monochromes and I greatly prefer that one to the color version. For me, the color in the original was nice but didn't add a lot - the strength for me was in the varied textures, lines, and contrast which the B&W brings out so nicely. Both are great images!

Thanks, Tony. Gotta thank Cameron for his suggestion to convert this to B&W. (And thanks again for your kind words, Cameron.)

Cloning out the roof might be a good thing, if YOU like it that way.

One way to see is just to put your thumb over it on the screen/print.
