Gallery Link

I do NOT want any of my photos shared with anyone outside of those who I share them with.

With that said, if I do share photos with someone, I DO want them to be able to access my entire site. From my reading, it appears that the SmugIsland feature should do exactly this. Is this correct?

If so, I am having one problem that if I can rectify, would make my subscription a total succuess... I have my SmugIsland set up but when I send a link to someone of a SPECIFIC gallery, the site (as it should) asks the user for the site password but upon successful entry of that password, the user is then taken to my Home Page and not the specific gallery link that I originally sent to the user.. this is not good. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

No, you want hideowner as well, that'll hide your navigation as well.

Thanks for your response but it's ok for the users that I send links to, to access my entire site.

Any idea about my issue regarding the link to a gallery?

    Hi Scmordo -

I'm really sorry for the delay in response here - several of us have been testing and banging this around to determine the extent and details of the issue.

I've been up and down, in and out and sideways running all the possible options for this - and the only thing I've determined is that you are absolutely correct. If a site wide password is in effect, gallery and image links are chopped at the entrance - and the guest lands on the homepage...

I've also discovered that linking a gallery set to 'hide owner' under a site wide password causes a complete fail - but that's to be expected as it's a total conflict - if the link lands a guest on the homepage, and the gallery is set to hide owner, the settings override each other and the link fails.

You've identified an interesting and valid issue - most definitely a bug of some kind on the password page that is causing the fail -

While we do 'test until the cows come home,' we don't always come up against every possibility - and we can't be grateful enough to our customers when they bring things like this to our attention... bowdown.gif If you'd be kind enough to shoot an email to the help desk (include a link to your gallery as well as this thread), we'd love to discuss this further and thank you for the valuable input.

Put 'Att: Sean' in the subject line -

We'll be forwarding this issue to the sorcerer's attention right away...

Wow! What a response! What great support! I have obviously subscribed with an AWESOME company! Unfortunately, it seems as though most businesses today have a total lack of focus on customer service. Apparently NOT SmugMug! clap.gif

    THANK YOU!

I will send that email now.
