So I was asked (by a start up zine in town) to shoot some pics at a custom bicycle show in Austin several weeks ago - and wasn't sure if I'd get paid - still don't know, and it doesn't seem likely. Here's how the story unfolds for now.

I took some pretty sweet photos and have been contacted by the builders to buy the photos for their sites, etc...I searched around for a pricing guide and I know that it's all pretty subjective (ugh!). The first email I replied to I was asking $300/image/download/commercial contract. But was more motivated to sell then anything else so I the final deal will wind up being $100/image for website use only. So I'm trying to stick with that $ amount for another perspective buyer ($100/image) - but will drop a little if he wants two images.
Any thoughts???

I never expected the off shoot (pardon the pun) of this to happen. So I'm thinking of not worrying about getting paid by the magazine if it seems like it's going to be a big hassle and maybe just ask for free ad space.

Another question:
Does there seem to be any market in BMX racing photo's - has anyone had any luck with this market?? What about cyclo-cross?

I'm a cyclist
