Saw my first Winter wasp queen out feeding and looking for a mate before hibernating for the winter. My only excuse for cutting off various bits of wing and antennae is it was moving around fairly fast :).

    Wow! It's very sharp.
I love it! Do you mind sharing the settings?

Thanks for the comments Phil and Louisa :)

Louisa. Taken around 1.5:1 to 2:1 camera in manual ,1/200th ,ISO200, F10 diffused flash flash in ETTL mode, manual focus. Only trick with these apart from spraying some leaves with sugar honey solution to attract some bugs is, I was holding the leaf the wasp was on with my left hand and resting the camera lens on that hand to stabilise it. This makes focusing easier and also allows you to carefully move the leaf to get the shooting angles and background you want. I was also purposely shading the wasp from the bright sun either with my body or with the camera.
