Apple 24" Cinema Display

Is the Apple Cinema 24" display an IPS panel?

There is no indication that it is on Apple's website (or if there is, I can't see/understand the reference).

There are complaints on Apple's store website (in the reviews) that it should be IPS for the price, but isn't.

Is there an LED panel that is also IPS? If not, which is the priority? It makes sense to me that an LED backlight is desirable (but hey, I'm not even close to knowledgeable about display tech).

I like the look of the Apple display, but am not sure what I am giving-up if I choose it (besides money, which doesn't actually bother me all that much since I like the mag-safe plug, isight camera, speakers, and think I want an LED).

My plan is to plug it into a Mac Pro (but want the mag-safe for my MacBook Pro).

But it tends to get mixed reviews. People seem to gravitate to the other IPS monitors. Either cheaper ones or more expensive top quality ones.

Thanks for the links. The specs seem to be ok for me, and I don't object to a glossy surface. I wish there weren't doubts about calibration.

One thing about the Apple is that it comes with a fairly decent calibration from the factory.
