yes, I dropped my 24-105 and it left a nice Scratch all the way across the uv filter, that is why they are on there right. So I went to buy a uv filter on amazon, is there that much difference in uv filters? how are tiffen and sunpak filters? any recommendations? :dunno

In my testing, yes, there is a difference. I use primarily Hoya HMC filters, but I also have one B+W multi-coated filter. Either are very good and have minimal effect on color, contrast and sharpness.
BTW, 2filter.com have fair prices and good information.

I concur, but can't really vouch for 2filter.com yet. Maybe later this week.
Just be careful, about the purest when asking that, "filters are the last thing you should use on you expensive glass... blah blah blah"
Filters have saved my butt more than once.
I personally recommend Hoya HD glass and Nikon neutral color filter.
Hoya HMC saves my Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 VR rental. An BB shoot it
thanks for the advice, ordered hoya hmc uv filters today.
