Went to the old Mission. For those not familiar, the Missions were founded in California by the Spanish to offer travelers protection and "civilize" the native people of California. The Autumn light gave nice directional lighting and I went to town on the lily ponds with the 135mm lens. I tried to underexpose to prevent hot spots and keep saturation levels up on the colors. Here are the shots from the day.

These are totally inspiring. The shallow DOF in landscapes is your signature style, I think. And it really really works.

    Thanks,
I vary, sometimes, I want a massive dof, sometimes a shallow dof.

I guess having fast lenses allows you to have both options.

    Thank you Eia and todaysphoto.
We were lucky with that flare shot. We took only a few minutes to mess with setting and composition and already the sun was right of the cross and didn't look at good when it was left of the cross and more towards the center. Amazing how fast the sun moves in just a few minutes.

Lovely work as usual Tee....is this mission in Carmel? I shot some similar takes when there last year but we were loosing light fast (the end of travels after Pebble Beach). I love the processing here too. Lovely compositions, colors and reflections...beautiful bokeh. thumb.gif

    Thanks again all.
Swartzy, the mission is in San Juan Capistrano. It is just north of San Diego/Orange County line in Southern California. Orange County is the county immediately south of Los Angeles County.

The Missions dot up and down California. The idea is that the missions are spaced just far enough that you can walk from one to the other as you move up or down the state. In reality, I think they are more like two days of walking IMO.
