Questions on using the Feedback Forum

I think there should be a thread under "Feedback" where we could still ask questions about using the new Feedback Forum. IMHO, it's not completely self-explanatory. I've already signed up, voted on a few, etc. (Right now, I can't sign in for some reason, so can't check it out again) But I was rather confused when I tried to submit a request in the request box. I typed it in, then hit "search", which is the only button to hit. Nothing seems to happen. I have tried this several times, and I have no way of knowing if the request went through, or what. If that button was supposed to actually search for similar requests, I saw no change in the order of the feature requests below the box... it was still most popular first. And my request just stayed in the box with no change. Is something wrong? If not, how do I tell if my request went through?

then, start typing your request. Say you wanted virtual galleries...



The system will search, and try to find similar requests. You can vote for the similar request, comment on it, etc. You've voted on these requests:

Yeah, I did all that. It definitely was not working correctly when I tried to use it. I mean, all I could do was vote on things I found by paging through the list. I could not do an actual search on my requests. The requests the search listed were always listed in the same order for each of my searches... the same ones were on top that were already there when I first logged in (most to least popular) And as I said, nothing at all seemed to happen when I hit "search"--- I wasn't given any new results. The screen just stayed the same.

So if it eventually works properly, how do new requests get made? Does that happen if a match is not found?

See the 'create new idea' button? Use that

I had issues using uservoice on FF. Try IE.

Samir, it works in FF, Safari, and IE 6, 7 and 8. If you had issues, write our help desk, ATTN: Andy, and I'll help from there, thanks.

Yippeee! I went back, & this time the search was definitely working... it searches while you're typing your idea-- quite handy! And yes, of course now that the search was working, I saw the "create new" button... 'cause it only appears when the search has happened. Ok, well, at least I wasn't inept! Something simply was goofy the other day... I could vote but there was certainly no search happening... that little thingy that spins around & lets you know somethin's happening?? Not there that day. I think this is a very good & handy system-- lets you know where you're at. I do agree w/ others tho who've said there's little point in allowing people with no Smug account to vote & make suggestions, though.

I don't get on there that often so I just thought it was a site designed for IE (they're still out there). The next time I run into problems, I'll do some testing and get in touch with the help desk.
