Fish, I use the digital viewfinder method of taking pictures. Use manual mode and just dial what I want the picture to look like then snap the picture. Usually the shudder speed is set to 125 unless it is a lowlight setting or want to completely freeze the action. So I really dont bother with settings as I just dial what I want. Most of the reptile and insects pictures are auto and night framing mode as they are mostly taken at night. U of A is putting out a book called 50 Common Insects of the Arizona Desert which hopefully will have my photos in.

I should probably post this in ABBA, but I can't figure out how to get from a smugmug photo link to the gallery with EXIF data. For instance, the link...http://fleas.smugmug.com/photos/1535157-M.jpg takes me to the photo in a browser window outside of the smuggy gallery. I can go to fleas.smugmug.com, but then I have to hunt around to find the gallery and image. Assuming it's not in a password protected gallery, I might be able to find it, given enough time and interest. Any clues?
Then again, I just spent the time looking at fleas' gallery, and no EXIF data is displayed (for whatever reason). So, I'm sunk.
Hmmm...I wouldn't have expected that. Seems like the DOF is greater than what might be obtained with f1.2 (holy mackeral...what lens are you using that goes down to f1.2??).
Are you sure that's accurate?

I can find nothing on the EXIF. it displays it on the camera smart stick data before I delete it. Since I have no interest nor use for EXIF I do not keep track of it. All I can find out about this pictures is the orginal size of 140 kb and was taken on 12-07-03.. Sorry

has to download Asian language extensions. It is not true. You can ignore
that (click past) and the image will display.

Smugmug sez that I have that, but the software that I use deletes this info when it reduces the size for posting..
Fleas,
This is a most pleasing and dramatic photograph.
It is as good a bird image as I've seen with wonderful design
and is worthy of a place on the cover of a book on birds.
Outstanding work.

Thanks Eland, Your are the Master of E-DeFT and I am honored that you came here and comented. Your published African wildlife photos are tremendous. It is not very often that amateurs like me have the opportunity to get get advice from a pro of your calibur. I wish I could be one of your students in Australia.
