If I were to make some changes that I was not happy with (cropping, etc..) is it possible to revert back to the original file that I had uploaded?

I know I can keep it locally, but it would be nice to have this option from the web interface.

That would require Smugmug to keep an additional copy of your original image (the uncropped version) which they do not currently do. Good feature request though.

Not the way I figured. I have no clue if any of my suggestions are technically possible, but one of my scenarios was that all display copies are cropped and the original is left ontouched.

If a customer adds a cropped picture to the cart, the same cropping coordinates can be applied to the full resolution original. I'm thinking this should be possible since the customer can already alter the crop to their taste in checkout.

But, the original "is" a displayable copy too (if permitted in gallery options). In normal photo uses, this original is only displayed occasionally, but there are other uses where it is displayed a lot (such as banners, custom tweaked slideshows, small originals, etc..). That means Smugmug would need the ability to serve up a cropped version of the original in a quick fashion. The way their current system works is they keep pre-made copies of the things they need to serve up quickly and frequently.

I'm not arguing that they couldn't do this feature, just pointing out some things they'd have to change internally to do it.

Hm, yes. I think I've presumed those use cases to have the image cropped to final aspect ratios before upload. Shoot. :cry
