Please forgive me if I am being redundant in asking this question, I have done numerous searches to no avail, but may not be searching under the right terms. Also, I am a bit new at this and learning as I go, although a bit frustrating, I am enjoying it!

I am in the process of setting up my website, currently thru Smugmug and would like to add a watermark to my photos. I have it designed and made in Photoshop CS4 currently as a PSD. I am under the impression that I need to make it into a PNG file so that I can load it to the site as well as have a transparency value to it. My issue is that I would like the white band portion of the watermark to be at 50% or so opacity and the logo towards the right edge of the watermark to maintain 100% opacity. However, when I save as a PNG, the image is being flattened with a white background. Therefore, when I add it to an image and reduce the opacity, I am also losing the opacity of the logo, making it hard to read.

Sad thing is that I have done this before, successfully, but now I can't manage to get it done!!

I appreciate your help in advance!!

I searched for creating a watermark and found this link with threads about watermarks - http://www.dgrin.com/search.php?searchid=4507

I will move your question to Smugmug support and see if someone there can answer your question

Thanks for the input. I eventually got it to work, I think!! However, I am not completely satisfied with the watermark that I currently have created. Back to the drawing board I guess!!

On another note...is there a way to add watermarks into the photoshop document to display when uploaded to smugmug but that would be removed when they are printed? I didn't know if there was something that I didn't know about, or if it required uploaded duplicate files (one with watermark and one without) Also, for social networking sites such as facebook, etc.

    Thanks again!!!
