#2 looks a bit forced (my kid's the queen of that). The dark spots under the eyes seem to exaggerate that perception (to me).
#3 I just love the look of confidence in it.
This kid is adorable and I love the way his hair and skin tones work with the fall theme. My favorite by far is #1, although I like all of them a lot. His eyes are really sharp in it.

Gorgeous shots!!! What a star model you have there! He seems to enjoy being the focus of the camera very much! I love all of his expression. One handsome little guy! Great shots!! Love the leaf bokeh. Thanks for sharing
Reeeeallly nice, Randy (although have you forsaken the 135L so soon? Traitor )
I'm normally a big bw fan and I"ll be interested in seeing conversions, but on this occasion I'm not so sure that bw is the way to go - his hair is so "autumn" that it's just perfect with all those leaves!
Nice work, great model.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The only thing I can critique is #3 Nice DOF, but the leafs in the foreground to the left are a little distracting. There is an unsymmetrical leaf blur from right to left ending close too close to the models head. If this where evened out a little your attention would go straight to that beautiful child.

Hey Divamum...thanks for the kind words. I am a bit biased on the color version on this right off the bat for that and the other reasons mentioned but I figure I'll give it a whirl and ya never know right.

Thanks for commenting PupWeb. I was shooting over a pile of leaves with the intent of creating a "windowed" affect using the DOF for the frame. These are almost SOOC with just sharpening and minor cropping applied and a slight vingette. I might pp again to see if that can be addressed. Thanks again.

My only small qualm is that for some reason my eye is drawn to the dark line spiking out from his back, the break in the backgrounds.

Thanks laurenornot. That black line is actually a tree in a neighboring yard.
Hey Mitch. Thanks for the kind words. I did get low ...I was laying on my belly shooting the 70-200 L at f/2.8.

Shooting wide open too, that lens seems to be working very well for you.

Number 3 is the winner for me! Very nice use of DOF. :ivar
I think they all would look brilliant in B&W... *hint..hint..*
