We summer on Lake Champlain in Vermont. For the past three summers this "stump" has been aground at various places out at Porter's Point. Each year it changes a little.

After measuring the circumference of this stump, I roughly calculate that this tree was a sappling when the French and Indian Wars were raging in this region...
