This wasn't posed. It's a friend at a gathering done with just a reflected speedlight on a whim but it's one of my all time favorite portraits.

The wrinkles around the eyes first catch my eyes, then my glance moves to her gaze, which is borderline weird. The rest of the photo, both the details and the darkness, help make this an outstanding shot.

Stunning portrait! For me the chair was a bit of distraction at first... but, as I studied the photo, the chair makes me feel like she's LEANING and I like it---with her weathered face, the "leaning" aspect makes me feel the heaviness of the photo. Just my two cents!!
