This was a spur-of-the-moment shot in my dark living room tonight. Shoot-through umbrella on camera left and white foam-core board as reflector on camera right. I was going for simple and masculine. Thoughts?

Really beautifully handled. I wish I could see just a bit more detail in the camera-left side of the face - it looks ever so slightly blown out - but other than that both images are really very nice.

Thanks, Kinkajou! I'm curious about the slightly blown out appearance. Could that be a difference in monitors? I can nearly see all the pores in his face! :D My histogram is definitely not blown. headscratch.gif Any preference for color or BW?

Amazing. I would have bet the farm on the fact that your son looked more like you. Looking at your hubbie, I rescind that thought and say he looks like him! I love family resemblances. iloveyou.gif

Love the shot. Wish I could bribe my honey into doing this for me too.

Both are stellar, but I love the color one more.

(I don't think it is blown either.)

Very nice! Doesn't look blown to me either. He must be a very kind person, that is what I see in this photo. Love the eyes.

    Very nice
Nice balance of shadow and light I think. Very natural looking capture. He doesn't even look like he was forced into this. :) I like color, the contrast of the blue eye and the green background does a lot for this photo IMHO.

Thanks, Heather! Yes, our little guy is a good mix of both of us. For years, most people said he looked exactly like me. Every now and then, someone would say he looked just like Seth. I couldn't see it. As Ethan's grown, the resemblance to Seth has as well. But he still has my hair and eyes! :D

Thank you. I agree about the color. The BW isn't quite there yet for me anyway, but the color one is just better, I think. He's usually quite happy to help me out, and since I don't ask him too often to sit for me, he's quite cooperative. thumb.gif Thanks for stopping by!

I also like both, but the colors just meld so well that I prefer the color shot. Love the shadows. He looks very relaxed. Beautiful.

Thank you, everyone! I so appreciate the comments. I like this shot of my guy so much, but it's nice to hear some outside feedback as sometimes it's hard to be objective.

Looks great! I have to sneak up on my husband to get his picture - otherwise he makes a face and there goes the pic.

I love it... the shadow dynamic makes it feel really masuline.. the lighting looks natural...and the green back ground is masculine and compliments his eyes and dark hair. Doesn't look blown out at all on my monitor.
