Where to Focus?

Can someone give me some pointers on shots like these? I know you're suppose to focus on the subject's eyes but which one? And how does it work when it's a profile shot?

    Can't see you images...you have to enable access for them to be linked....

    Generally focus on the eye that's closer to the camera. It looks like that's what you did with the first shot, so that's good. Shots like that with very shallow DOF will usually look wrong if the far eye is in focus and the near eye is out of focus.

    After looking at the larger image on flickr, it's clear that the focus is off in the lined image. The headband is in focus and both eyes are out of focus. The other one that Darren posted looks great though, as far as I can tell at flickr size.

    For a profile shot, just focus on the visible eye.
