I received my new D700 last night and I'm loving it! Here's my first shot straight out of the camera, no editing with Nikon 50mm. :barb

This is one of my pups.

You must have a really bad copy, that is nothing that the camera is capable of. I demand you send it to me at once for servicing rolleyes1.gif

Good one! Was shot straight out of the box, no setting changes on the camera. It has a zillion more options than my old camera. I'm looking forward to digging in today.

    Congrats! I love my D700 too :)

FWIW, I used Ken Rockwell's user guide and it was well worth the money.

    http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d700.htm

Even now I show people that you can press the little button in the middle of the multi-selector to zoom in on pics and they didn't even know that feature existed.

It's under setup, controls, multi-selector center button, playback, zoom on/off then I use low magnification. Once zoomed in you use the rear dial to go from pic to pic.

Thanks for the link! Looks like a great guide for getting up to speed quickly.

I also think Thom Hogan's guide is worth every penny. And Thom doesn't use the word "silly" too often. :D

    Congrats!

So far as overexposing in JPG mode, just enable the Auto D-Lighting. Changes the whole character of the camera, I was impressed.
