Lost Comments

First: I would like to say that the amount of information available here to a numpty in anything to do with html/css/java script is incredible. Many thanks to all of those from who I have poached ideas by "lurking".
After poaching this info and using it, I can no longer see the comments left on the pages I have updated. The comments remain when I go to the comments section in my "control panel".
My question is: are those comments lost for ever for those pages or am I able to restore them?

The comments are stored in the database. You have simple hidden them with the customizations. They are not lost forever. But you would need to remove the customizations to see them again.
