A Gift photography by ginger
I could not believe what I was seeing in my view finder. And this was no tame deer. We were shocked, both the deer and I, at this experience. I was lucky to get a photo in focus.
I stay home, use all that I can think of here for inexpensive experiences. I swear, I would have thought this experience was worth the cost and trouble of a long trip to a far away Natl Park. And it was here...........for me, at my age. I have seen a couple, that is all, fleeting glances of wild deer, in the mtns, from my car. But never, ever, an intimate encounter, as this was.
Comments are welcome. I can provide the original. This is cropped slightly. I did this one last night. After taking about 6 photos, this was the only one that was this much in focus, especially with the bird, too. We were not actually close in distance.
I was taking a photo of the bird. Then I was taking a photo of a deer. Across the marsh. It was way after hours, after I should have left for home. No one else was around, nor had they been for some time. I was carefully trying to get down the road without disturbing any birds I might want to photograph. My destination was a tree at the end where the snowys hang out.
MY, my, I am still amazed.

After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

You must have had the camera right up to your eye when she appeared. Glad you got the shot.
How far away were you? With your 300mm and the tube, you have about 600mm magnification, right. How far a distance is "across the marsh"?
