Golden Gate viewed from the headlands714749287_UpW7a-L-1.jpg

Weekend before last, Nick asked if I was interested in going to take some pictures (He just got a new canon 7d) I said sure and since he was also getting a lens from someone in the bay area we decided to head to San Francisco. Nick wanted to shoot some pictures of the Golden Gate and since I'd always wanted to walk out to the light house on the North point we agreed to visit the Marin headlands, then head into the city for a few night shots.

We got a bit of a late start and then had to wait a bit to pick up the lens but we still had plenty of beautiful daylight left when we got to the Marin headlands. I even managed to get some wildlife shots as there were deer, several small birds and a hawk. I approached the hawk stealthily only to spot a little girl standing directly under it! I then proceeded to walk up to it for some close ups.

We finally headed out to the lighthouse only to find we had just made it in time. They were closing up for the day and wouldn't be allowing more people out across the bridge. We got several pictures then headed into the city for some dinner at fisherman's wharf and then some night time photography. It was fun shooting the lighthouse since I'd seen it so many times from the water but had never been out to it on land before.

First off we enjoyed the sunset during dinner, We were dissapointed to see the minimal lighting on the Golden gate so instead we took pictures of the bay bridge.

Wow, nice. I happened upon the light house while riding a mountain bike around the point some time ago. My timing was perfect as they were just starting the tour. That was a lot of fun. I love that whole area for photography work. So many different things to explore and photograph. Did you get a chance to run around the old ruins or go down to Ft. Baker (I think that's what it's called).

Thanks- we did hike through the old gun embankments/tunnels but ran out of time before seeing the fort, guess another trip is in order :)

great pics...I did that exact picture route on a Sunday morning (11/15)...I wonder if we crossed paths! I went up to Hawk Hill early to get some sunrise shots and then headed into the headlands...then Sausalito for a late breakfast. Amazing area!!
Canon 7D and some stuff that sticks on the end of it.
