Best filter system for 77mm lenses

Choice between the P size or Z or X on 77mm lenses for FF body (5DmII)?

I will most likely be going for Lee filters, so is the 84x120 OK for at 24mm on a 24-70mm f2.8 canon or do i need to go wider to avoid vignetting / blockage?

If I pick up a 16-35mm (82mm diameter) - will this filter system work or does this demand that I need a 4x6 Lee set up with the Foundation setup?

Anyone with experience in these matters?

Much appreciated
tks

Ambienz, welcome to the Digital Grin. clap.gif

I moved this to the Accessories forum which is where we generally have filter discussions.

I think especially since you intend to purchase (or are considering) the EF 16-35mm, f2.8L USM that the larger filter size will serve you better on a FF body. I also suggest the wide-angle holder instead of the standard holder, or just cut the outside slots on the standard holder to make a WA holder.

    Thanks Ziggy53.

So do you mean either a Cokin P system cut down (or wide angle) or that I should be looking at the Lee Foundation and cut that down?

Actually, I think the Cokin Z-Pro system will fit 4" filter width and is both adaptable and reversible. In the reverse configuration it would appear that it should work for even the 16-35mm lens. The Lee WA holder is also supposed to work and is easier to use.

If you really want to be sure about preventing vignetting, you could go with the Cokin X-Pro system but then you might have problems finding quality filters for it.

Depending on the filters you are talking about using....you could just hand hold the filters.

I shot P's on a 16-50mm on a crop body, and that vignetted in some situations. So I recommend a Z-pro size at least. 4X4 squares, and 4X5 rectangles
