email share problem

Periodically when sending an email share I get the following error:
Gateway Timeout

The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.
Reference #1.8f4b1160.1258643618.0

When that happens the recipients seem to get two copies of the share email. (I don't resend) It does show up in my shared email list (albeit only once.)
At first I thought it was because of the number of recipients I included. But I tried breaking into multiple emails and sending sequential emails several hours apart.
It just happened to me again.
Overall there are about 200 people I send the shares to. The first 3 I sent out this time had 40+ recipients, the last around 20 and that was the one that timed out.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey waldhaus1, sorry to hear about the trouble. It sounds like one of the recipient mail servers (or another server in the the chain) is slow to respond, and we then generate an error (which you see), and then try to re-send, which is why they might be receiving 2 copies. Are there specific emails that it seems to happen with? Or does it seem to be completely random?

    Thanks,
    Scott.

Thanks Scott. Hard to say if specific emails as I usually send out in a group of 20 or more. I don't really send out enough emails to test for problems with specific recipients. I guess I could reduce the group size and see if it seems to involve a specific group next time. Since I have been breaking up into somewhat smaller groups it doesn't seem to have followed a particular pattern however. Are there servers that are known to be a problem?

    Thanks again.
