This poor bird...it thought it could just fly in like the sparrows do. Its actually a baby that was born up there and it was just trying to return...only it returned to the wrong side :rofl All the rooms in this bird house have sparrows living in it, but one. A family of grackles took up residence in an upper room. They keep the Bluejays and other predators away. Our other neighbors have a bird house just like this without a grackle living in it. Bluejays are always stealing the babies out of it :cry

Bluejays are mean and nasty birds...its just so sad to see the mommy and daddy sparrows line up while the Bluejay is getting his supper....many times over. Sparrows won't fight off a Bluejay for some reason. You'd think they would all gang up on him. I'll start screaming like a crazy lady to scare it away....well I'm sure the neighbors think I'm the "crazy lady"

Great catch here, Mary Kim. If it wasn't for me loving all animals, I'd be shooting the Bluejays that raise hell with my bird houses. Keep on screaming at the thugs.

Howdy Mary,

Great capture, looks like a European Starling, they are a real nusiance around here, not as bad as the "Grackles" but close.

You know it could be a type of starling, but its a really big bird. Do starlings get that big. Momma looked like a Grackle. Now I need to look it up

Just looked it up and I stand corrected -- it is a European Starling. I must not of looked at Momma close enough -- I'll be darn Thanks for the correction Craig
