Can the new partner services access the vault? It would make sense for ShootDotEdit to be able to retrieve RAW files and for ScanDigital to be able to deliver TIFF files.

    Hi Malte,

I work for ScanDigital and would love to chime in- although we can't access the vault, we are still able to provide your digital images in TIFF format. Customers can choose between JPEG or TIFF, or even request both if they'd prefer. Only difference I should note is that TIFF images are returned unedited.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions- I'm happy to help!

    Best,
    Pamela

P.S. This is my first 'reply' on Dgrin, so hope I did this right :)

    Hi Pamela,

I'm honored that I am your first reply and I love that you guys from the partner services are here chatting with us! clap.giflust

I'm in Europe, do you know how customs would treat the returning originals? Since you're returning my goods there shouldn't be a toll, right?

What a warm welcome- thanks! We're happy to be here wings.gif

Correct, there won't be a tax or toll for your shipment. We've never had any issues shipping to Europe, as we are only returning your material plus a DVD.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Always here!

Okidoki, here's some more. A friend of mine is scanning positives himself and he says he needs to take the filmframe out of the glass and frame to avoid getting an irregular green hue caused by the protective "glass" in the frame. How do you guys handle this problem?

Andy, if you're around, could you share some of the stuff you got done?

Happy to help. Generally, we remove the film from the glass and scan the image in a film holder to avoid the green hue. That being said, if there is any chance of damaging the original materials, we will not remove the film and instead attempt to remove any irregular coloring in our individual editing process afterward.

Hope that helps! Keep the questions coming :D

    Well allrighty then,
    • How much would the TIFF+JPEG option cost per positive slide? That's an unedited TIFF file and a scratch- and color corrected JPEG from the same slide.
    • What equipment is used? Yes, I'm a nerd.
    • Do you outsource?

Sorry for the delay- we had a long weekend for Thanksgiving. On to the answers to your questions...

-The JPEG + TIFF option costs an additional $0.20/image. So $0.88 per slide for both formats. Or $0.68/slide for either one format.

-For slides, we use a Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED. And being curious does not make you a nerd!

-WE DO NOT OUTSOURCE. Period. All material is processed at our headquarters in California. Keeping all of our operations in one central facility allows us to maintain our strict security and quality measures.

    Hope that helps!
