Birds from the SF zoo

I took the day off of Friday and went to the San Francisco zoo to test out the new 70-200f4. I've never been to a zoo so this was really a great time for me. So many animals, so many picture ops. I was worried I would run out of cf cards and it turns out I ran out of battery instead. Had to go to the local ritz camera to buy a travel charger, the kind that plugs into your cig lighter.

I've got a bunch of pics so I'll try to break them up into different posts, ie...birds, birds of prey, monkeys, etc...

First a night heron (I think)

A Flamingo:

A stork:

And last but not least another view of the stork. I kinda like this one. I wish the fence would have framed his eyes better but:dunno It kinda looks like he's a mad criminal behind bars:

Thanks for looking, comments always appreciated

Hi Eric & Susan.....Flamingos are just beautiful, I love visiting the Zoo, some of those wire enclosures are really annoying to try and photograph around.
Being able to get inside the big Avery's is a wonderful thing too, least you get a chance to watch and wait, cause the bird can't fly too far rolleyes1.gif

I am keen to go back to the Melbourne Zoo to try out my 400mm, but that wont happen till later in the year now......least the weather should have picked up by then.......glad you had a wonderful time.....thanks for sharing your pictures from you day out........ Skippy (Australia)

It looks like fun! I love the red of the flamingos, and I do like storks, always.

How do you like the lens so far. I call mine the lens I love to hate, but I am getting some good shots with it...........better as time goes by.

    Thank you Gingerthumb.gif

I'm lovin the lens so far. the first time I used it I was excited about the turn outs. They came out pretty good. The 2nd time almost all of them were blurry. It's got a big learning curve, for me anyways, so it will just take time. But overall I'm very satisfied with this lens.
