Dogs are being abandoned in the desert by people who, I guess, can no longer afford to feed them. They all have their collars removed, but look like they have been cared for in the past. Right now there are four in the area sometimes together sometimes alone.

This one is so thin I could count his ribs from 20 yards away.

My 10-year-old is addicted to Animal Cops, and in particular watches the Phoenix one. She gets very emotional over the plight of abandoned, abused, or neglected animals; the Phoenix heat and harsh desert conditions just exacerbates the problems.

    Moving image!

This makes me so very sad and angry at the same time. A fellow off-roader friend of ours up in the phoenix area found a stranded dog out in the desert and showed me some pictures of it. Him and his wife took it to a shelter, where they donated money and a leash they had bought for it. If I owned the house we lived in instead of renting, I would take some of these dogs in a heartbeat.

That's the way I feel. So sad. :cry

Shot-wise, I like the comp, but the picture is a little hot for my tastes. I realize it's an artistic choice that shows the harshness of the scene, but I feel like I'm missing some details of the dog. Maybe that's a good thing. I think you should have gotten some of those ribs visible though for more impact.

Anyway, nice job and good editorial work.
