This post will be updated over the next few days to include the complete e-session photo set. Expect 100+ photos. I will also add to the background information on the shoot.
Rather than submit a small selection of the best shots, I will be posting a complete set of images from this e-session. I have not seen to many full sets on here lately, and I think they offer some educational value. So here you go! A little insight into the flow and management of the shoot.
Back Stage Pass:
This couple contacted me about an e-session in San Francisco. We decided to focus on the beach elements of the city. We had planned to spend some time in the city-center, but the bride-to-be got REALLY sick which re-arranged more than our schedule. More on that later.
The beach series was taken at Baker Beach. SF locals will know this spot to be both scenic, and a little "progressive"(it's a nude beach!). :wink Made for a fun and interesting session, no doubt.
I was shooting with my D700 and Nikkor lenses. A 14-24mm f/2.8, and a 70-200mm f/2.8. I broke out my trusty 50mm f/1.4 for a couple shots, too. I did not use any reflectors or flash, so what you see is natural light.
We arrived about 2 hours before sunset, and made the hike down to the beach itself. During which, my new KATA bag started to remind me that it wasn't broken in yet. LOL

This is absolutely stellar! I am stoked about seeing more, and reading more. This type of work is a huge inspiration. 2, 11, and 17 are my favorites for the first 19 you have posted. LOVE that long diagonal shadow on 17!
Thanks for posting. I needed to see this.

Way to go! The only one I didn't like was #9, just too distorted for my taste, but the rest of the are spectacular

I'm working on it...trying to catch up on a few different shoots! Anyone feel like doing some editing?
We're nearing the end of the beach session for this shoot. The lighting was about as good as it gets, and the couple was more than happy to keep shooting. At this point we were about 2hrs into the shoot.

Are you willing to share your exposures on this stuff? I'm amazed that the exposures look so nice, yet the sun us behind them. I'm still new with engagement shoots, so I'm hoping to gain some knowledge here. I'll be posting my first e-shoot today or tomorrow probably.
So, with no lighting other than the sun, how did you get this to happen?!
