7Dvs. 1dMkIIN High ISO

I finally have the ability to process my 7D shots comfortably. Just needed to add 4 more gigs of RAM so my poor little iMac wasn't stressing. I am also using LR2.6, not 'officially' released, but it does have 7D RAW profiles.

Anyway I said I would compare the two cameras in the same indoor sports venue, and now I can.

This venue has new lights and new paint since last indoor. Huge difference, because the 1dMkIIN was able to shoot at ISO 1600 w/out being way underexposed.

I had the 135f2 on it. ISO 1600, f2.2, 1/320:

The 7D - not really sure (this game was oct. 26 and I don't remember) but I think the ISO is different because the 7D was underexposing at ISO 1600.

ISO 2500, f2.8, 78mm(70-200mmf2.8), 1/320:

ISO 3200, f2.8, 200mm, 1/400:

So not perfectly scientific, but real life shooting conditions for me.

No noise reduction to these.

Being able to shoot at f2.8, and use the 70-200 is a big plus as it allows me to cover most of the field well.

If you would like the direct comparison, same ISO, same lens/focal length and shutter speed let me know. There is not a game until Dec. 6ish, but I can get some shots then.

You have to resize the 7D files to the 1D Mk2N files.

Try the same files in DPP?

    BTW, thanks for the examples.
