Try following all of our tips, here http://www.smugmug.com/help/search-engines
1) add a description to your gallery - using our albumDescription space. 2) how about a meaningful caption? http://www.whanphoto.com/Portfolio/Sea/7040568_yJooA#452599707_RkvYy your caption is whanphoto - not very meaningful when searching for an image.... 3) the keywords here aren't making sense to me http://www.whanphoto.com/Portfolio/Sea/7040568_yJooA#452602591_y2bQg maybe you've made a mistake? 4) how about descriptive filenames, that'll help, too:
notice the 'san-rafael-swell-corral' in my filename? Google will find that.
Google Image search will get your images. Look for
How Could You Forget the Chocolate Babka?
in GIS and you'll see.
Follow all our tips and you will see results, I promise. More http://www.smugmug.com/help/search-engines

and after giving it a long time now 13th December still not one image shows up on any search engine.
it seems not to matter any variation of keywords i have put into a search engine still nothing..
even if i just type in the web site address nothing...

First off you have a very low Google rank - 1/10. This means that if you have the same set of keywords as someone else then they will come higher than you. You have to find a way of fixing that.
Secondly you seem to be using unrelated keywords e.g Dungeness lighthouse isn't in either China or Brazil. I don't know how but I believe that Google is good at checking how related keywords are to associated pictures and it may be that you are being marked negatively for that.
So, for example, even though both Tajikistan and earthquakes are both common keywords if you search for them in Google images our site comes up first because we have both a good page rank and only related keywords.
HTH - this stuff is painful but the Smugmug tips do work
Rich
thank you for taking the time in looking for a answerer to my problem.. i will set to work with the new information..
may i ask how you found the internet ranking??
http://www.whanphoto.com
I just used this site http://www.prchecker.info/
but there are a few out there. Don't get too hung up on the rating as it isn't everything but 1 is probably just a bit low.
Google is indexing your stuff, it's just that there is so much other stuff out there with similar keywords. So for example this photo http://www.whanphoto.com/Portfolio/Automobiles/5175707_Rx2WJ#450876074_HnS84
can be found in the main Google index if you search for the exact description "2006 Holden Police Commodore Omega" with the quotes around it so the whole string is found. If you search without the quotes so you are looking for the individual words then you disappear off the list. Only increasing your page rank will help that I believe.
On other pictures such as this:
http://www.whanphoto.com/Portfolio/Automobiles/5175707_Rx2WJ#327474620_y26r5
you could help yourself dramatically by adding keywords that describe the picture such as 'orange', 'bubbles', 'car' so that someone looking for a picture of an orange car might find you.
Good luck
Rich
thanks rich.
i was just thinking by following your examples do you have a sugestion why the "2006 Holden Police Commodore Omega" can be seen on Google web and not display anything on images???

Put proper captions. Descriptive, not too long. Captions are used as alt tags and page title. The alt tags are very important for images. Get your images linked from other sites.
That's easy to say when you have a PR5.

I was wondering that as well. My best guess is that the indexing for images isn't as complete as for a standard web search. So, for example, if I search for "The trained massons receive from Mission East" the thumbnail that appears in google images is correct (which proves that it has been indexed) but the link is to a different photo on the same page (it may help that I didn't spell 'mason' correctly )
If I search for the complete caption for that photo "The trained massons receive from Mission East their end of training package and tools" then I get nothing.
The correct photo is here http://photos.miseast.org/Tajikistan/Tajikistan-06-Earthquake/1912679_S3ueU#149175762_6XMxP
In other places though, the full caption works beautifully e.g. "Beneficiaries of Mission East and FAO programmes in Badakhshan, NE Afghanistan" picks up the correct picture.
If I were to guess I would say that the caption to the photo that you linked to was too large to include in it's entirety as it contained a lot of lines and so it may have been binned for image search. However that is just a guess as no-one really knows with this stuff.
All that we try to do is to keep the captions quite short, relevant to the picture and relevant to page title. The gallery titles are usually descriptive and we have a 'caption' for the gallery as well. AFAIK google will index a photo not only on embedded information but on the text that also surrounds a picture on the page so it helps to keep it related.
Still don't know how it works though
Rich
Took a while but it was worth it. We now make the first page on some very generic searches such as Afghanistan agriculture which is on the same page as images from usda and nasa. I'm happy to say the least
This is probably the most important and most difficult bit to manage. The blog advice from Andy is good (as long as it is relevant - probably). We are probably helped by linking from other parts of our site that have a lot of text about these countries which improves the relevance of the links.
For you my guess is that you took these photos at particular car shows or events. These should be in the keywords if possible - it just adds another valid reference that helps. If you do specific work for people then get them to link to you if you can, even just in a 'news' post, it all helps.
Good luck
Rich
