Yellow Pictures

My father has a Nikon 5000 with a Sigma 18-200 lens. He uses a Nikon SB 400 external flash. His pictures seem to have a very yellowish tint to them especially when the focal length is at about 18, when it's at 135 or so, it seems okay. The lighting is NOT tungsten or florescent when this happens. He also is having a problem with shiny skin tones.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

The exif data shows that WB was set to Auto. Has he/you tried to use the flash white balance? The shots were at 1/60 which is going to let in a decent amount of the ambient light which may be making the auto WB not work well (trying to combine the flash with the ambient). Just a quick thought.

Flash, tunsten, and flourscent each provide light of a different color. A shutter speed of 1/60 will allow the ambient to provide a significant contribution to the exposure, especially at the indicated aperture and ISO. The only way I know of having a prayer of a chance at getting a "correct" WB when mixing different colored lights is to also shoot a gray target shot and use that in post to correct the WB of the images. The extent to which that will work will depend greatly on the extent to which the light is mixed. The more one light source dominates the exposure the easier it will be to get a good WB during post.
