Twilight over Oceanside Pier w/ Dennis Mammana

I did a city sky workshop with Dennis Mammana and OPT on Sunday down in Oceanside... Event was sponsored by Canon so I got to switch religions for an evening and play with the Canon EOS 5D mk2 and 16-35mm f2.8 lens. Ridiculously awesome equipment. Here's a few shots

2) I like the rocks here but I wished I had better DOF.


3) Rocks not as nice but DOF is better.


4) Star bursts!!!


5) Stars... definitely not the best. couldn't focus (literally and figuratively)

I like them all, but I like the rocks in #3 -- they look like they are coming towards me

I Like the DOF in shot #2 , great pics, definitely need to pick up a wide angle

City sky workshop? Sounds intriguing! I love the 5D and the 16-35 is a really sweet lens, too. Great photos from this day and it looks well worth the trouble of batting for the other team.

thanks schmoo - it was actually pretty fun batting for the other team. really affirmed my feelings regarding a camera being just a tool. didn't degrade my results and i only had about 15 min to get familiar with this combo before my first snap. if anything, it may have improved my results since i shot some of these at a pretty high iso.
