Hi!

What do you think of monitor Nec 23" IPS EA231WMI for easier Photo Finish? I'm not a pro user, but I think photografing and photofinishing is very fun.

Regards
Simon

The best thing about this monitor for photo editing is that it uses an "e-IPS" TFT LCD panel which is far superior to the "TN" panel used by almost all other current 23" monitors with the 1920x1080 resolution. I believe it is also an 8bit panel vs the 6bit of the TN's.

There is a test report on the German language site of Prad.de. You can translate it page by page with Google translate or similar. It will likely be another 2 weeks or so before it is translated and posted on the English side of the site.

Prad has rated the EA231WMi as "Good" - usually I would look for "Very Good" for photo work but if you also want to use it for watching HD videos or hooked to a PS3, it may be the best compromise out there.

They commented on issues with "streaking" pertaining to game play, sRGB mode as not being accurate though in Custom mode and after calibration it was very good, and the uneven brightness of the screen which was noticeable to the naked eye.

TFT Central will also have their review up soon.

FYI.... Viewsonic also has a monitor that uses this panel, the VP2365WB

It is due to hit store shelves just before Xmas.

I see Prad also recently posted a review for the Eizo EV2333WH which uses a PVA panel and has 1920x1080 native resolution. They rate it "Very Good".
