I am staring at the photo and reading your comment a few times...
Still not exactly what you mean by his cheek being cut off. Are you talking about his face? Lots of room to the left of the face so nothing cut off there.
If you mean buttocks, yes I choose where to end that. Would have to refer back to the original but dont think I got all of his rump in the image to begin with. i believe this was a very minimal crop just to clean up the right edge of the frame.
Sorry about that, I am not the best at explaining things sometimes. I mean down by his collar buckle some of the left folds seem cut off at the bottom. Left to Right and the depth of the body I think are very nice.

A question is did you crop the image as his right cheek is a little cut off.
Having a Newfoundland that is my test subject on many occasions I can understand how one can frame it perfect and the dog moves.

Canon 50D with 70-200 f/2.8L IS.
ISO 800
f/3.2
Focal length 200mm
Shutter 1/500s
No flash.
All processing done in Lightroom. Most intensive thing I did in post is the eyes. Just lightened them a bit.
Couple more dog pictures on my site here DOGGIES
That looks better to me as the face is full. Still a great shot.
