Help with transfer of domain name

I wrote off to Free Parking, who hold my domain name with the request in the help page concerning CNAME (forget the wording), and got this back.

"Our CNAME records do not support forwarding to a domain name. It needs to
be an IP address. You can check settings via the dns zone file manager
advacned option, or use web forwarding via the domain prioperties section."

Can anyone decypher it for me?
Needless to say, I have no idea what it means or how to go about doing it.

Thanks in advance

Phil

Looks like they allow an A-record, which is okay, though we may change our IP Address in the future (not so likely, but possible).

our IP Address is in the 'drop www' section on our CNAME Help page.

Wow, that was fast. I'm impressed.
I was looking on the help page you linked, and it notes that an A-record could result in a site which is much slower.
I'm tempted to get another domain name from Go Daddy (www.philipsmith.net). It's just such a shame that I've got www.philip-smith.com but using it may slow up my site.

I don;t suppose there's any way around it, you know of?

All the best and many thanks

    Phil

That's out of date and needs to be updated, not slower.

Why not just transfer your domain to godaddy, it only takes a few clicks.....

Ahhh, I didn;t realise you could do that. Do I do it from Godaddy, or from my existing host?
