I really like this. I think I would like it even more if there was a little bit of sky showing over the top of the rock formation in the upper right corner. To me it looks slightly ackwardly cropped off. Beautiful capture though.

This photo has a lot going for it, in terms of composition, contrast, and the subtle balance of color. It looks very natural. One can almost feel the sun's rays warming the early morning air, yet there's still a coolness felt in the blue sky and the stone of the foreground. You captured not only a great view, but a feeling - like certain musical chords can do (ya know?).
Great color and composition, Dan! Can't go wrong with a Muench Star.
The flare seems a little dark to my eyes near the horizon. Were you bringing down the exposure in the sky, or recovering the highlights in the sun? I'd expect for that area to be completely white since it's, well, the sun. But it looks almost underexposed to me.

Thanks very much Bob for those generous remarks. It validates the notion that HDR's do not have to look surreal or artificial.

Thanks Schmoo. I understand, and I wrestle with being "technically correct/natural" vs. surrealistic. In my eyes, the unnatural often looks better
